Opatija 21 d.o.o. is a development company specialized for public parking and real estate management, established in 2008 and owned by the Town of Opatija. Although the Town of Opatija itself has just under 12.000 permanent residents, in 2019. we have had over 450.000 tourist arrivals (over 1,37 million overnight stays), with substantional daily fluctuations. Considering that the Town of Opatija is so attractive and well known tourist resort for both domestic and foreign visitors, but on a geographically small area, providing the equally adequate service for residents, domestic and foreign visitors is often a great challenge. Today we provide parking services on about 1.150 open public parking spaces, about 260 parking spaces at closed parking lots, and about 50 parking spaces for tourist buses. Taking all that into consideration, the company has developed some special parking services that are aimed to be as much user-friendly as possible, but, for the purpose of the company’s financial stability, those services need to be properly implemented and controlled. Our work has recently been aknowledged with a Croatian Parking Association Award.
